Texas Roadhouse denies claims of employees discussing spitting in Black customers' food

Texas Roadhouse has vehemently denied viral social media allegations that its employees discussed spitting in Black customers' food within a private Facebook group. The restaurant chain stated that an investigation, including an independent cybersecurity firm, found no evidence of such a group or any food tampering incidents.

These claims, which circulated widely on social media, prompted calls for a nationwide boycott. The original post, allegedly from a Facebook group called "White and proud," accused servers at an unidentified Texas Roadhouse location of contaminating food intended for Black guests. The post also linked the alleged actions to a past crime involving a Black teenager.

Texas Roadhouse officials emphasized their commitment to providing respectful service and stated that they do not tolerate discrimination or mistreatment. Travis Doster, chief communications officer, told USA TODAY that some users who defamed the chain have since retracted their statements, calling the allegations a hoax. Doster suggested that automated programs, or bots, might have been responsible for spreading the false claims, noting the complete lack of credible evidence.
