West Java Police have officially named Taufik Hidayat as a suspect in the severe assault and unlawful detention of Yuvita Tri Rezeki, a case that tragically resulted in the victim losing her sight. The suspect is currently a fugitive, and police have issued a wanted notice for his arrest.

Kapolda Jawa Barat Irjen Pol Rudi Setiawan announced the suspect's designation, stating that Hidayat faces charges under Article 466 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) of 2023, in addition to charges related to unlawful detention. Police initiated a rapid response upon receiving the victim's report and admitting her to the hospital, forming a specialized task force comprising various investigative directorates within the West Java Regional Police.

We formed a team, several teams, and a combination from all the Detective Directorates at the West Java Regional Police because we see the spectrum is quite broad, we suspect they are involved in various other criminal acts.

Authorities are actively pursuing Hidayat and are simultaneously investigating his potential involvement in a wider range of criminal activities. Initial inquiries suggest the suspect may have a background as a debt collector, and police are thoroughly examining his past dealings. The investigation is also exploring possible links to drug trafficking and other general and specific criminal offenses, indicating a broad scope for the ongoing inquiry into Hidayat's alleged criminal network.
