Thailand to shorten visa-free stays for tourists from 93 countries

If you are a tourist who prefers a comfortable holiday, then every such tourist arriving in the country is warmly welcomed." This sentiment aims to reassure legitimate travelers while deterring those with criminal intentions. The government's focus is on ensuring the integrity of the tourism framework and protecting both its citizens and the economy from fraudulent activities.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports anticipates that this policy adjustment will not adversely affect the kingdom's vital tourism sector. Data suggests that the average duration of stay for most international tourists in Thailand is already less than a month. Therefore, reducing the visa-free period is not expected to deter the majority of visitors who come for leisure and shorter stays.
