Thanasis Spanoulis follows father's footsteps, named MVP and wins U16 National Championship

Thanasis Spanoulis, the son of Greek basketball icon Vassilis Spanoulis, has followed in his father's footsteps by being named MVP and leading Olympiacos to victory in the U16 National Championship. The young guard was instrumental in Olympiacos's fifth championship title in the tournament's history, defeating DEKA in the final held in Florina.

Spanoulis dominated the Final 8 tournament, averaging an impressive 17.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. His all-around performance also saw him rank third in scoring and steals, third in blocks, and fourth in assists, showcasing his significant contribution to his team's success.

The distinction for Thanasis Spanoulis carries historical weight. He and his father, Vassilis Spanoulis, are now the first father-son pair to both be crowned MVP of the U16 National Championship. Vassilis Spanoulis earned the same accolade in 2000 while playing for Keravnos Larissa, establishing a remarkable family legacy in Greek basketball.
