The 60+ Group Strengthens Pride Parade

Iceland's Hinsegin Days, a celebration of LGBTQ+ pride, showcased a vibrant array of events throughout the week. Festivities included a rainbow golf tournament, a colorful cake competition, and a youth quiz. A significant highlight was an intergenerational discussion panel held at Iðnó, focusing on the educational initiatives of the organization Samtökin '78. Ragnhildur Sverrisdóttir, one of the organizers of the discussion, highlighted the renewed engagement of the 60+ group, a segment of the community that had been less active in recent years but was instrumental in the organization's early days. "We in the 60+ group started meeting again once a month, after many of us hadn't been much in touch in recent years but were involved in the activities before," Sverrisdóttir stated. The discussion delved into the history of educational efforts within Samtökin '78, with members sharing their experiences and insights. The event aimed to bridge generational gaps and preserve the organization's legacy through shared knowledge and remembrance.
