The All-Electric Jeep Compass Expands Its Range With More Options

Jeep is adding a more powerful four-wheel-drive option to its all-electric Compass range. The Compass 4xe comes exclusively with a 96 kWh battery and two electric motors that deliver a combined 375 horsepower.

The rear motor produces 132 kW and was developed specifically for Jeep. Through a 14:1 reduction gear, it can send up to 3,100 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. Jeep says that gives the vehicle enough propulsion to climb a 20% incline even when the front wheels have no traction.

The Compass 4xe is available in Upland and Overland trim levels. It sits 21 centimetres above the ground, one centimetre higher than the two-wheel-drive versions. Its specially designed bumpers provide approach, breakover and departure angles of 28, 16 and 31 degrees. The vehicle can also cross water up to 470 millimetres deep.

All electric Compass versions include an 11 kW AC onboard charger as standard, while a 22 kW charger is available as an option. DC charging reaches 160 kW, allowing the battery to recharge from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes. Every new Compass version comes with an eight-year factory warranty that can be transferred to a subsequent owner.

The entry-level 213-horsepower model, with a 74 kWh battery and a claimed range of 500 kilometres, costs €37,990 in Altitude trim after the state subsidy. The new Long Range version, with its 96 kWh battery and 660-kilometre range, costs €43,990 in the same trim.
