The Apostolic Church Nigeria Convention Triggers Gridlock, Traffic Backs Up to Iyana Oworo

Lagos residents are experiencing severe traffic gridlock as the annual convention at The Apostolic Church Nigeria National Headquarters in Ketu continues to draw large crowds.

The ongoing religious event has led to heavy congestion along the Ogudu–Toll Gate corridor, with traffic backups extending significantly, reaching as far as Iyana Oworo. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that the influx of worshippers and associated vehicles is the primary cause of the slowdown.

Despite the congestion around the church premises, LASTMA reported that traffic flow remains relatively free from Gbagada Bridge towards Car Wash and Ogudu. However, the agency acknowledged the extended backlog caused by the convention's attendees. To mitigate the disruption, LASTMA advised motorists to utilize the Gbagada–Oworonshoki Expressway as an alternative route whenever possible.

LASTMA officials have been deployed to the scene to manage vehicular movement and alleviate the congestion. The agency urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officers and exercise patience as they work to ease the situation. Traffic moving from Ojota Bridge inward the Toll Gate, Secretariat, and Otedola Bridge, as well as the return journey along the corridor, remained relatively calm.
