'The East Palace' Series Set to Premiere, Nam Joo Hyuk Faces Ghosts and Deadly Curses

Netflix is building anticipation for its new Korean original series, 'The East Palace,' with the release of its main trailer and latest poster. This supernatural mystery drama transports viewers to a royal era, weaving a dark narrative around a curse that has haunted the palace for decades. The series features a compelling cast, including Nam Joo Hyuk, Roh Yoon Seo, and Cho Seung Woo, in a story centered on the East Palace, a place shrouded in terror.

Scheduled to premiere on July 17, 'The East Palace' promises a blend of dark fantasy, horror, action, and mystery. The plot revolves around Gu Cheon, portrayed by Nam Joo Hyuk, a skilled ghost catcher capable of traversing between the human world and the Gwi World, the realm of spirits. Under the command of the king, played by Cho Seung Woo, Gu Cheon is tasked with investigating the lethal curse afflicting the East Palace. He is joined by Saeng-gang, a palace maid with the ability to hear spirits, played by Roh Yoon Seo.

The trailer offers a glimpse into the series' chilling atmosphere, depicting a grand yet desolate palace filled with lurking spirits. A supernatural voice threatens the royal bloodline, prompting the king to seek Gu Cheon's help. The visuals quickly shift to showcase Gu Cheon engaging in sword fights against creatures from the Gwi World, while Saeng-gang utilizes her unique ability to uncover clues related to the curse. The trailer also hints at a visually striking supernatural world, characterized by dark red hues, thick fog, and menacing figures emerging from shadows.

Alongside the trailer, Netflix unveiled a new poster featuring Gu Cheon and Saeng-gang as partners in a secret royal mission. The image, set against the backdrop of the Gwi World's distinct red aura, suggests their interdependence as they confront the hidden spirits. The series is directed by Choi Jung Kyu, known for 'The Devil Judge,' with a script by Kwon So Ra and Seo Jae Won, who previously worked on 'Bulgasal: Immortal Souls.'
