The Fastest Man on Earth Is About to Say “I Do”

Usain Bolt marked his 40th birthday with a surprise proposal to Kasi Bennett, adding a major personal milestone to the celebrations of the man widely known as the fastest on Earth. The eight-time Olympic champion asked his longtime partner to marry him after more than a decade together.

Bolt and Bennett have been a couple since 2013 and have three children. Their eldest is six-year-old daughter Olympia Lightning, while their five-year-old twins are named Thunder and Saint Leo. Bennett did not know the proposal was coming. Friends helped Bolt arrange it in secret during his birthday celebrations.

She later displayed the engagement ring on social media, featuring a large oval diamond. A day earlier, Bennett had posted an emotional birthday message to Bolt. She wrote, "My love, my home, my eternity. You are an incredible father and truly the center of our little world. Your legacy is extraordinary, but I will always be proudest of the man who stands behind it."

Bolt had said a decade ago that he did not want to rush into marriage. He pointed to his parents, Wellesley and Jennifer Bolt, as an example and said he wanted to be sure he had found the right person before making such an important decision.

The Jamaican retired from competitive athletics in 2017. He remains the world-record holder in the 100 meters, with a time of 9.58 seconds, and the 200 meters, with 19.19 seconds. He won eight gold medals at the Olympic Games.
