The Good Life star Penelope Keith dies aged 86

Penelope Keith, a beloved actress celebrated for her roles in iconic British sitcoms, has passed away at the age of 86. Her family confirmed her peaceful death at her home in Surrey, where she had resided for over five decades. They shared that she had been battling cancer and expressed gratitude to her caregivers, while also requesting privacy during their time of grief.

Keith achieved widespread recognition as the formidable Margo Leadbetter in the BBC comedy "The Good Life," starring alongside Richard Briers, Felicity Kendal, and Paul Eddington. Her portrayal of the aspirational suburbanite earned her a BAFTA for Best Light Entertainment Performance in 1977.

She later captivated audiences as Audrey fforbes-Hamilton in "To The Manor Born," another immensely popular sitcom that aired from 1979 to 1981 and had a special return in 2007. Her extensive television career also included notable performances in "The Norman Conquests," "Executive Stress," "No Job For A Lady," and "Next Of Kin." For "The Norman Conquests," she received a BAFTA for Best Actress the following year, further cementing her status as a comedic talent.
