The Pitt, Hacks, Widow’s Bay lead Emmy Awards nominations 2026 (FULL LIST)

The Television Academy has unveiled the nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, with HBO Max's medical drama 'The Pitt' leading the pack with an impressive 25 nominations. The nominations, announced in Los Angeles, recognize television programs that aired between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026.

Comedy series 'Hacks' closely followed, securing a record-breaking 24 nominations for a comedy in a single year. Apple TV+'s new series 'Widow's Bay' garnered 19 nominations, while 'Pluribus' received 18 and 'Beef' collected 16. Across all its programming, HBO Max dominated the nominations with approximately 122 nods, surpassing Netflix's roughly 111 and Apple TV+'s about 87.

Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego highlighted the "extraordinary creativity and artistry" of this year's nominees, noting the diverse range of genres recognized. "The breadth of work recognised this year, from intimate character-driven comedies and satires to fantasy, thrillers, and costume dramas, demonstrates that great storytelling knows no bounds," Abrego stated. The ceremony is scheduled for September 14, 2026, with Mariska Hargitay set to host.

In the major categories, 'The Pitt' is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series alongside 'The Diplomat,' 'The Gilded Age,' and others. For Outstanding Comedy Series, 'Hacks' contends with shows like 'Abbott Elementary' and 'Only Murders in the Building.' The Limited or Anthology Series race includes 'Beef' and 'Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.' Acting nominations feature prominent names such as Sterling K. Brown and Zendaya for lead drama acting, and Steve Carell and Quinta Brunson for lead comedy acting.
