“The Voice of Romania” opens Season 14 strongly as Pro TV leads Friday ratings

“The Voice of Romania” returned for its 14th season on Friday, Sept. 4, and immediately took the lead in the ratings. The Pro TV program premiered on the same night as Antena 1’s “Love Island.”

Nationally, “The Voice of Romania” attracted 988,000 viewers and recorded a 19.8% market share, compared with 699,000 viewers and a 14% share for its rival. Pro TV also ranked first among urban viewers, with 567,000, and among the commercial 20-to-60 audience, with 436,000, according to Pagina de Media.

Tudor Chirilă, Smiley, Irina Rimes, Theo Rose and Horia Brenciu continue as coaches, looking for contestants who can persuade them to turn their chairs and join their teams. Season 14 adds a “Second Chance Button,” allowing coaches to reverse a decision. Host Pavel Bartoș will also have one opportunity to bring back a contestant whose performance prompted none of the coaches to turn a chair.

The season retains two of the coaches’ most feared tools, SUPERBLOK and MUTE. MUTE lets coaches silence their rivals, while SUPERBLOK can dramatically alter the competition for a contestant.

The premiere also carried a personal announcement from Rimes. She said this would be her final year on the show because she wants to take a career break and focus on her personal life and plans to become a mother. “This year is my last year on ‘The Voice of Romania.’ I want to take a break from my career and start a family. If I want to become a mother at some point, I need to step out of the spotlight for a while and focus on my body and prepare, because health is very important,” she said.
