These Men Had a Hellish Escape from Nepal’s Flooded Hydro Tunnels. They Were the Lucky Ones

Ram Chandra was working inside a hydro tunnel on the banks of Nepal’s Trishuli River when water, concrete and debris stormed through the darkness.

As the force of the flood almost swept him off his feet, Chandra grabbed one of the rungs fixed into the tunnel roof. That quick reaction likely saved his life.

He escaped with a small group of workers. The account describes them as the lucky ones, indicating that others caught in the flooding did not have the same chance.
