Thessaloniki: Dramatic chase ends with arrest of driver in stolen car

A high-speed car chase through Thessaloniki, Greece, culminated in the arrest of a 37-year-old man driving a stolen vehicle. The dramatic pursuit unfolded on Agios Dimitrios Street, near the AHEPA hospital, causing significant disruption and alarm among drivers and pedestrians.

The incident involved two cars, one black and one white. During the chase, the black vehicle reportedly attempted to ram the white car, which veered onto the sidewalk. Fortunately, no pedestrians were in the immediate vicinity at the time.

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene, with onlookers stopping to observe. At one point, a motorcycle with two helmeted riders approached the white car. The individuals on the motorcycle reportedly smashed the car window and shouted at the driver before leaving the scene along with the black car, possibly to avoid police involvement.

Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene. The 37-year-old driver of the white car sustained injuries from the broken glass. A subsequent check revealed the car was stolen, leading to his arrest. The motive behind the chase and the confrontation remains unclear, as the driver has not yet provided an explanation.
