Actor Serhat Mustafa Kılıç, who was found dead at his home in Istanbul’s Kağıthane district on Sept. 5, will be buried in Ankara today.

Today they are laying you to rest in Ankara, and I am on set. I console myself by saying, 'You could not attend your mother's funeral for the same reason.'

Veda Yurtsever, a friend from his conservatory years, said she could not attend the funeral because she was working on a set. She wrote an emotional message for Kılıç, whom she called Serji.

“Today they are laying you to rest in Ankara, and I am on set,” Yurtsever wrote. She said she tried to console herself by remembering that he had also been unable to attend his mother’s funeral for the same reason.

A big part of my youth is going into eternity today, with his unique energy, talent and joy.

Recalling their childhood in Ankara and the days when they laughed together, Yurtsever wrote that “a big part of my youth is going into eternity today.” She described Kılıç as a uniquely energetic, talented and joyful person, and said she believed the world would have applauded him if he had been given a wider stage. “Goodbye, Serji,” she wrote, adding that she still had more to say.
