Thieves attempt to break into Yamal’s home in Barcelona during France match

An attempted burglary occurred at the Barcelona home of Spain's young football star Lamine Yamal on Wednesday, just hours after he played a key role in his team's World Cup final qualification.

Catalan regional police confirmed an attempted break-in at a property in Esplugues de Llobregat, a suburb of Barcelona. While police declined to name the owner for privacy reasons, local media reported the house belongs to the 19-year-old forward.

According to reports, two individuals wearing balaclavas scaled the house's wall but were deterred by private security guards, prompting their escape. The house is reportedly well-known as it previously belonged to football legend Gerard Pique and his former partner, pop star Shakira.

The incident took place early Wednesday morning, shortly after Spain defeated France 2-0 in their World Cup semi-final match.
