Thieves Steal Over 32,000 Euros in Equipment from Highway Construction Site

A construction site located along the Vilnius-Kaunas-Klaipėda highway has been targeted by thieves, resulting in the loss of property valued at more than 32,000 euros. The theft occurred at an unsecured site situated at the 145-kilometer mark of the highway.

According to the Police Department, the incident took place between the evening of August 21st and the morning of August 24th. The perpetrators gained access to the unprotected construction area and made off with valuable equipment belonging to a company.

Among the stolen items are two welding machines, approximately 180 kilograms of welding wire across 12 spools, 600 meters of various cables, and a range of construction tools. The scale of the theft suggests a well-planned operation targeting essential equipment.

Authorities have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the incident. The Police Department reported the case on Monday, August 24th, at 11:20 AM, following the discovery of the missing property. The investigation aims to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen assets.
