Third Body Found in Dominican Republic Municipality Amidst Growing Unease

Residents of Villa Los Almácigos in Santiago Rodríguez, Dominican Republic, are on edge following the discovery of a third unidentified body in the municipality. The male victim, found in the La Piña community, was in an advanced state of decomposition with parts of his clothing burned.

This latest finding brings the total number of recently discovered bodies in Villa Los Almácigos to three. Authorities have launched investigations to understand the circumstances surrounding these deaths and to determine if they are connected. The Division of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) and a forensic doctor examined the scene.

The preliminary report indicated the body was found face down, with signs of burning on the hair and remnants of a partially incinerated shirt. Burned fabric was also found around the ankles, suggesting a burned pant leg, along with a melted plastic strip. A forensic technician processed the scene, collected fingerprints for identification, and gathered evidence for analysis.

The cause of death is pending the results of autopsies to be conducted by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif). Police spokesperson Diego Pesqueira confirmed the discovery, noting the body was found on a farm approximately 25 kilometers from the sites of the first two discoveries. The first two bodies, found on Sunday in the Bohío Viejo sector, were identified as a man with his head covered, feet tied, and a rope around his neck, and a woman who was naked, partially burned, with tied feet and a nylon rope around her neck. Both were also awaiting autopsies.
