This is How Much Doctors and Nurses Earn on Staff. "Rzeczpospolita" Knows the Amounts

Recent data obtained by "Rzeczpospolita" sheds light on the actual earnings of medical staff within Poland's public healthcare system. While the government mandates minimum wages, particularly after the upcoming 8.82% increase effective July 1, 2026, the figures reveal a more comfortable reality for many. Doctors, especially those with specializations, are earning substantially more than the minimum, with averages reaching over PLN 24,000 gross. Even the lowest-earning 25% of these specialists take home over PLN 15,700 gross. This contrasts with the minimum wage, which will be around PLN 12,910 for them after the increase. The situation is similar for nurses, with those holding master's degrees and specializations earning an average of over PLN 15,300, well above their new minimum of nearly PLN 11,500. It's important to note that these figures represent salaries for those employed directly by hospitals under employment contracts. A significant portion of medical professionals, particularly specialists, operate under civil law contracts, which may offer different earning structures. The data, compiled by the Agency for Health Technology Assessment and TARIFFICATION (AOTMiT) from 538 hospitals, provides a valuable snapshot of the financial landscape for healthcare workers in Poland, showing that while the minimum wage increases are significant, actual earnings are often considerably higher.
