Thousands attend PDP's 2027 campaign launch in Ogun, Nigeria

Thousands of residents and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters thronged the streets of Ogun Central Senatorial District on Wednesday to mark the official flag-off of the party's campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections. The event saw massive turnouts in Ifo/Ewekoro, Abeokuta North, and Abeokuta South Federal Constituencies, signaling strong grassroots support.

In Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, the campaign kicked off at Agbado Station, where enthusiastic residents waved from streets and balconies. They welcomed the PDP's governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, his running mate Alhaja Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, and the party's senatorial candidate for Ogun Central, Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo, along with other party leaders.

The campaign train proceeded to Abeokuta North Federal Constituency, where a large crowd had gathered since morning to greet the team, including House of Representatives candidate Dele Olaleye. Similar scenes unfolded in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, with Toyin Amuzu as the House of Representatives candidate, where thousands of supporters followed the convoy to Ake Pavilion for the main rally.

During the rally at Ake Palace, Adebutu urged attendees to vote for a "tested and trusted candidate" in Senator Obasanjo, highlighting her past performance. He called on residents to reject the ruling APC government and vote for the PDP in 2027, promising a return to better times. "I want to remind you that the best times of Nigeria have largely emerged under the leadership of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), exemplified by what Baba Obasanjo did as a cornerstone for his successors," Adebutu stated, adding, "Happy days are coming again, very, very soon."

Adebutu encouraged supporters to "stand by their votes, resist intimidation and use the power of the ballot to say enough is enough to misgovernance."
