Thousands honor Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler in hometown farewell

Thousands of fans lined the streets of Mumbles, a suburb of Swansea in Wales, to bid a final farewell to the iconic singer Bonnie Tyler. The procession saw mourners lay flowers on the hearse as it made its way through the town.

Tyler, born Gaynor Sullivan, died in July at the age of 75 after a period of illness in a Portuguese hospital. Despite achieving global fame, she remained deeply connected to her Welsh heritage, often described as a "Swansea girl, through and through" who "never forgot where she came from."

As the procession began, Tyler's most famous hit, "Total Eclipse of the Heart," echoed through the streets. Tearful onlookers erupted in applause, a poignant tribute to the beloved artist. Her coffin was draped with the Welsh flag and accompanied by a framed photograph.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday in Swansea, followed by a private family burial later the same day.
