Three arrested for assault in Reykjavik; police also cite multiple DUI offenses

Reykjavik police made multiple arrests overnight, responding to a range of incidents across the city center and surrounding areas. Three people were taken into custody on suspicion of assault, with one individual being held in a cell pending further investigation.

In addition to the assault cases, the police conducted a significant operation targeting impaired driving. Sixteen drivers were stopped and are suspected of operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. These individuals were processed, including blood sample collection, and subsequently released.

The police log, covering activities from 5 PM yesterday to 5 AM this morning, also detailed responses to other disturbances. Officers were called to Hafnarfjörður and Garðabær following reports of an assault at a pub, which is now under investigation. Another incident involved a vehicle colliding with a house, though fortunately, no injuries were reported.

These reports highlight the varied nature of police work, from addressing violent altercations to enforcing traffic laws and responding to property damage. The investigations into the assaults and the vehicle-house collision are ongoing.
