Three dead, teen rescued from Montevideo house fire

A devastating fire in Montevideo's Piedras Blancas neighborhood claimed the lives of three people and left a 15-year-old boy in serious condition due to smoke inhalation. The blaze erupted late Saturday evening, prompting an emergency response from the National Fire Department.

Fire units from Maroñas and Casavalle, supported by a unit from the Centenario Barracks, were dispatched after the 911 Emergency Service received a call. Upon arrival at the property on Dunant and Azotea de Lima, firefighters encountered a fully involved fire that had consumed the approximately 50-square-meter structure, which had block walls and a lightweight roof.
