Three die in traffic accident in Los Ríos

A tragic accident in Santo Domingo's Los Ríos sector claimed the lives of three individuals, including a young child, on Wednesday morning. A double-cab pickup truck reportedly lost control and veered off Coronel Juan María Lora Fernández Avenue, striking the victims who were seated on a median strip.

The deceased have been identified as an avocado vendor who had worked in the area for years, a young woman who had been selling fruit there for about two months, and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. The impact was severe, leaving fragments of the vehicle's glass at the scene.

Security camera footage captured the moment the high-speed truck mounted the sidewalk. Emergency services, including the 9-1-1 system and traffic police (Digesett), responded to the incident. The bodies were transported to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) for examination.

Witnesses reported that the truck driver sustained a minor head injury and was apprehended by police. The driver reportedly claimed to have lost control of the vehicle, though this account has not been officially confirmed. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or an official cause for the crash, which remains under investigation.
