Three foreigners found working as security guards without permits in Panama City operation

An inter-institutional operation conducted in various sectors of Panama City has resulted in the detection of three foreign nationals working as security guards without the necessary work permits. The nighttime inspection, a part of ongoing labor oversight efforts, was carried out by inspectors from the Ministry of Labor and Development (Mitradel), in collaboration with the National Migration Service, the National Police, and the Directorate of Institutional Affairs in Public Security.

The authorities focused on verifying the labor conditions and compliance with obligations by companies employing security personnel. During the checks, three individuals, identified as being of Nicaraguan and Colombian nationality, were found performing security guard duties without proper work authorization. Consequently, official reports were filed, and the owners of the establishments where the individuals were working have been summoned to present their defense and implement corrective measures as mandated by current legislation.

These inspections spanned multiple areas within the capital, including Tumba Muerto, Transístmica, San Francisco, Costa del Este, Mañanitas, Domingo Díaz Avenue, Vía Centenario, and San Miguelito. The operation is part of broader labor inspection campaigns aimed at ensuring adherence to regulations governing employment and working conditions across various industries.

Beyond reviewing work documentation, the authorities also assessed the conditions under which the security agents perform their duties and the responsibilities of private security firms. The findings highlight ongoing efforts to regulate the labor market and ensure compliance with immigration and employment laws.
