Three Killed as Bus Plunges Into Ditch in Gopalganj

Three people were killed and at least 15 others injured when a passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch in Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj during heavy rain.

The Tungipara Express bus was traveling from Khulna to Dhaka when it crashed in the Gerakhola area on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway at about 10:15 a.m. The accident happened shortly after the bus crossed Gerakhola Bridge.

Police and fire service personnel reached the site and rescued injured passengers, who were taken to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex. Police said some of the injured were in critical condition. The identities of the three people who died could not immediately be confirmed.

Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Muksudpur Police Station, said the bus may have gone out of control after the road became slippery in the rain, citing witnesses.
