Three killed in three-vehicle crash in Pekan

A tragic accident in Pekan, Malaysia, claimed the lives of three individuals, including a young child. The collision involved a Honda Civic, a Toyota Alphard, and an Isuzu Dmax. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Jalan Kuantan-Segamat. The victims were identified as Mohamad Zekry Zuhairy Mohd. Atan, 33, the driver of the Honda Civic, his two-year-old daughter Dhea Sofia, and Azaharuddin Mohd. Ali, 46, the driver of the Toyota Alphard.

Preliminary investigations suggest the Isuzu Dmax was attempting to overtake a lorry on a zebra crossing when it hit a puddle. This caused the driver to lose control, veering into the oncoming lane. The Dmax then collided with the Honda Civic and the Toyota Alphard.

"As a result of the collision, the drivers of the Honda Civic and Toyota Alphard were confirmed dead at the scene," stated Pekan District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd. Zaidi Mat Zin. "The passenger in the Honda Civic, who was the driver's daughter, was confirmed dead at the Chini Health Clinic."

Six other individuals from the three vehicles sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Pekan Hospital. The police chief indicated that the accident was primarily due to the negligence of the Isuzu Dmax driver.
