Three Poolside Country Homes Showcase the Luxury of Staying Cool

The rooftop pool party has lost some of its appeal. After this year’s record heat, the country house is becoming the more coveted summer property, offering cooler nights, shade from mature trees and thick walls that can keep rooms more comfortable without air conditioning.

The feature presents three examples from Lower Austria, Salzburg and Styria. They offer more than a pool: there is room for gardens, terraces, boccia courts, archery and other outdoor pursuits that urban penthouses cannot easily provide.

Near Korneuburg, a former mill has been carefully renovated into an approximately 850-square-meter modern farmhouse. The property combines polished concrete and glass floors with an industrial style and rural surroundings. Its main house includes several living areas, four bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a separate guest unit.
