Three rescued after drifting 11 hours when boat capsized off Incheon coast

Three men in their 20s and 30s survived an ordeal at sea, drifting for nearly 11 hours after their motorboat capsized off the coast of Incheon, South Korea. The group had set out for a fishing trip from Wangsan Beach on Sunday afternoon.

Their last contact with family was a phone call around 7:10 p.m. Sunday, after which they encountered strong waves. The boat began taking on water and eventually overturned. One of the men's wives reported them missing to the coast guard around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Incheon Maritime Police launched an extensive overnight search, mobilizing three aircraft, 19 patrol boats, and three vessels from affiliated organizations. Utilizing systems to predict sea currents, they narrowed down the search area. The men were eventually found and rescued around 6:12 a.m. Monday near Choji Island.
