Three teenagers plead not guilty to murdering good Samaritan Aidan Becker

Three teenagers have pleaded not guilty to murdering Aidan Becker, a 22-year-old man who was allegedly attacked after intervening to protect a younger boy. The incident occurred on March 6 at Mernda train station in Melbourne. Police claim Mr. Becker was on his way home from his job as a hospital security guard when he stepped in to help a 14-year-old being threatened with a machete.

According to the allegations, the accused, identified as 18-year-old Mike Pikos and three boys aged 16 and 17, then set upon Mr. Becker after he had assisted the teenager. The three youths entered their pleas of not guilty in the Children's Court. Their cases have now been moved to the Supreme Court, where a directions hearing is scheduled for August 26.

Mr. Pikos has not yet entered a plea and is expected to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on August 19. In the wake of Mr. Becker's death, a candlelight vigil was held at the train station, and his family unveiled a plaque in his honor. The Yarrambat Football club also remembered Mr. Becker, a former player, stating he "brought people together and represented everything that our club stands for, effort, attitude, respect."

Mr. Becker's sister, Siobhan, expressed that he would have acted the same way again, "even knowing the awful outcome." She added, "I don't think he would hesitate in any way to do it again."
