Three-year-old boy rescued alive after six days under earthquake rubble in Venezuela

In a remarkable display of resilience and international cooperation, a three-year-old boy has been rescued after surviving for six days buried under the debris of two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24. The successful rescue operation was carried out by an international team of rescuers from Jordan.

The child, identified as Klieber Morán, was found in the early hours of Tuesday, June 30, in the Los Corales Garden 1 building in La Guaira state. The rescue effort, which lasted several hours, employed advanced imaging technology to monitor the boy's condition and ensure his safe extraction from the precarious rubble.

Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez shared the news on Instagram, calling the boy's survival "a symbol of hope for our people." This rescue occurred despite experts typically calculating a survival window of around 72 hours for individuals trapped after such seismic events.

Images released by the Jordanian authorities show the boy being carefully extracted by rescuers and quickly transported by ambulance, covered by a blanket, to receive necessary medical care. He was subsequently transferred to a hospital for further treatment. While this rescue offers a glimmer of hope, the earthquakes have devastated the region, with official figures reporting over 1,900 deaths and 5,000 injuries, leaving approximately 75,238 families affected.
