Thunderstorm Warnings Issued for Lithuania as Weekend Brings Cooler, Wetter Weather

Lithuania is bracing for thunderstorms on Tuesday, with weather alerts issued for the Alytus and Vilnius regions. The warnings are active from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., advising residents to seek shelter from lightning and be prepared for potential power outages.

Despite the approaching storms, the country will continue to experience summer-like warmth, with temperatures expected to reach between 22 and 27 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists note that the western edge of a cyclone is influencing the weather, leading to localized heavy rain and dramatic cloud formations.

The western edge of the cyclone is still affecting us, so some areas are experiencing summer downpours, while elsewhere the sky is only briefly darkened by clouds.

Looking ahead, the weather is expected to change significantly by the weekend. Current forecasts indicate a more humid cyclone approaching from the southwest, which could displace the drier conditions. Saturday is predicted to be warm and rainy, with increased winds possible along the coast. Sunday is forecast to bring rain to most regions, with cooler temperatures in western Lithuania, although eastern and southeastern areas may still see highs of 21-25 degrees Celsius.

The beginning of the following week is expected to be considerably cooler, with temperatures dropping to 17-20 degrees Celsius and minimal rainfall. This suggests a brief respite from the recent heat before potentially cooler weather arrives.
