Thunderstorms and cooler weather to hit Bavaria this weekend

Bavaria is set for a weekend of unsettled weather, with thunderstorms and cooler temperatures expected across the region. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts rain, showers, and isolated thunderstorms starting Saturday morning. Heavy storms are possible in the afternoon, particularly near the Swabian-Franconian Jura and in the direction of the Danube River. Meteorologists anticipate the strongest storms along the northern edge of the Alps in Upper Bavaria.

Temperatures will vary across the state, with highs between 25 and 29 degrees Celsius in the north. Areas like the Franconian Forest and Fichtelgebirge will see cooler temperatures around 23 degrees. The southern half of Bavaria will be slightly warmer, reaching 26 to 30 degrees Celsius.

The weather is forecast to improve on Sunday, with more sunshine and warmer conditions, potentially reaching up to 32 degrees in the south. Thunderstorms are expected to be limited to the Alps and their foothills. However, the heat is set to return with a vengeance on Monday, with temperatures climbing as high as 37 degrees Celsius.
