Thunderstorms and heat up to 42°C: storm warning issued across almost all of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is bracing for severe weather conditions as a storm warning has been issued across nearly the entire nation. The forecast predicts intense heat, with daytime temperatures soaring to 35-38 degrees Celsius in several regions, including West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, and Aktobe. Some areas could even experience highs of up to 42 degrees Celsius.

Alongside the extreme heat, many parts of the country are facing a high to extreme fire hazard. This is particularly concerning in regions like Shymkent, West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Karaganda, Ulytau, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, and Abai. The dry conditions, coupled with strong winds that can gust up to 20 meters per second in some areas, create a dangerous environment for wildfires.

Adding to the volatile weather, thunderstorms are expected in the northern and eastern parts of East Kazakhstan Region and in the western, northern, and southern areas of Abai Region. These storms may bring heavy downpours, hail, and squalls. Fog is also anticipated in various regions during the night and morning hours, potentially impacting visibility.
