Tiafoe reaches Stuttgart tennis quarterfinals

Frances Tiafoe is one step closer to a second title at the Stuttgart Open after overcoming a rain-delayed match against Rinky Hijikata. The American secured his quarterfinal spot with a 6:4, 6:4 victory. The match, like many others, was delayed due to persistent rain, which disrupted the tournament schedule for a second consecutive day.

Tiafoe, the 2023 champion, will now face a tougher challenge as he advances. The tournament, known as the Boss Open, is also missing top German player Alexander Zverev, who opted out after his French Open win. The absence of Zverev, who defeated Germany's top player last year, leaves a void for the home crowd.

Adding to the disappointment for German fans, all domestic contenders have been eliminated. Jan-Lennard Struff and Yannick Hanfmann's exits in the round of 16 mean no German players remain in the main draw. The tournament, with a prize pool of 768,220 euros, continues with international talent vying for the title.
