Tiafoe to face Nakashima in Cincinnati semifinals

American Frances Tiafoe advanced to the semifinals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 after a hard-fought victory over Italy's Lorenzo Musetti. The world No. 23 secured the win with a 7-6(2), 7-5 scoreline in a match lasting two hours and 17 minutes.

Tiafoe needed a strong finish to overcome Musetti. After trading breaks in the final set, Tiafoe capitalized on his final service game to close out the match. He will now face another American, Brandon Nakashima, in the semifinals.

Nakashima, ranked world No. 22, earned his spot in the semifinals by defeating compatriot Taylor Fritz in a three-set thriller, 7-6(9), 4-6, 6-3. This marks a strong run for Nakashima, who reached the final of the Montreal Masters the previous week. He currently leads the tour with 22 hard-court victories this year and has an opportunity to reach his second consecutive Masters 1000 final.

Looking ahead to the semifinal clash, Tiafoe has a favorable head-to-head record against Nakashima, having won six of their previous seven meetings. The match is scheduled for Saturday.
