Tiger that killed man in Chitwan captured and caged

Wildlife authorities in Nepal have captured a tiger responsible for the death of a 65-year-old man in Chitwan National Park.

Mangle Bote was attacked and killed by the tiger while on a morning walk with another man in the buffer zone of the park. After Bote went missing, a search team comprising police and the Nepali Army discovered his body in a community forest area, showing clear signs of a tiger attack.

Following the discovery, an intensified search for the man-eating tiger commenced. Wildlife technicians successfully darted and captured the animal in the same area where the attack occurred. Avinash Thapamagar, information officer at Chitwan National Park, confirmed that the search for both the man and the tiger began immediately after the incident was reported.

The tiger appears to be a male, around seven to eight years old. It appears healthy, and its canines are also in good condition.

The captured tiger is a male, estimated to be between seven and eight years old. Initial observations suggest it is healthy with good canine condition, though a full medical examination will be conducted. The animal has been transferred to a holding cage at the Sauraha-based facility of the park.

This capture brings the total number of tigers held in cages at Chitwan National Park to seven. Most of these animals were previously identified as man-eaters. The park currently houses five male and two female tigers in captivity for various reasons, including those brought from other regions or captured within the park and its buffer zones.
