Tigers Option Taiwanese Infielder Lee Hao-yu to Triple-A for Development

The Detroit Tigers have sent Taiwanese infielder Lee Hao-yu down to Triple-A Toledo, a move manager A.J. Hinch explained was necessary for the young player's continued development. The decision to option Lee comes as infielder Gleyber Torres returns from injury. With Zack Short also on the roster, providing shortstop capabilities, the Tigers opted to send Lee to Triple-A to gain more experience. Hinch stressed the importance of age and development, mentioning that Lee's path to the majors was accelerated due to injuries on the team and that he had only recently completed his rehabilitation from a spring training injury. "He's matured before our eyes, and I told him he will be back in the big leagues.
