TikTok influencer AJ哥 officially enters Tainan council race after paying NT$160,000 deposit

Tainan TikTok influencer Cao Weiguo, known as AJ哥, has formally entered the race for a Tainan City council seat in Yongkang District as an independent candidate.

In a newly released video, Cao showed viewers the registration certificate issued to him and confirmed that he had completed the required process. He said he had paid a NT$160,000 deposit for the candidacy.

Cao sells furniture and home furnishings as his main business. He gained public attention through charity-related videos, in which he contacts people involved in individual cases, assesses their circumstances and then decides whether to provide assistance. Those methods have previously sparked controversy.

Staff members congratulated him after the registration was completed. The video drew a wave of supportive comments, while other users expressed interest in his campaign. Some joked that bringing his familiar pet, Bubu, to the registration office would have made the footage even more eye-catching.
