TikTok Removes Over 4.8 Million Videos in Nigeria in Q1 2026

TikTok has reported a significant effort in content moderation, removing more than 4.8 million videos in Nigeria during the first quarter of 2026 for violating its community guidelines. This figure represents a small fraction, 0.6 percent, of the total videos uploaded by Nigerian users.

The platform emphasized its proactive approach, stating that 99.8 percent of the violative content was detected and removed before any user reports. Furthermore, 92.8 percent of these videos were taken down within 24 hours of being posted, highlighting the speed of TikTok's moderation systems.

Globally, TikTok's Q1 2026 report indicates the removal of over 184 million videos, constituting 0.5 percent of all uploads. The company also reported removing more than 86 million fake accounts worldwide and over 118,000 pieces of content specifically related to edited media and AI-generated content (AIGC) in Nigeria during the same period. These actions underscore TikTok's ongoing investment in enhancing its moderation capabilities to ensure a safer user experience.
