Tim Curry, star of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show,' dies at 80

Acclaimed actor, voice artist, singer, and songwriter Tim Curry has passed away at the age of 80. Multiple U.S. media outlets confirmed his death, which occurred Tuesday evening at his Los Angeles home.

Curry achieved international fame for his unforgettable performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." He also instilled fear in generations of viewers as the menacing clown Pennywise in "Stephen King's It."

Beyond his iconic horror roles, Curry's career spanned various genres and mediums. He graced the stage with numerous theater productions and appeared in films such as the 1992 comedy "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," where he played the arrogant concierge. In 1979, he also enjoyed chart success with his song "I Do the Rock."

Born in Grappenhall, England, in 1946, Curry completed his studies in Theater Arts and English at the University of Birmingham in 1968. He launched his stage career shortly after, earning his first significant role in the original West End production of the musical "Hair" in 1968.
