President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new campus of the Police Academy in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area in Ogun State.

The establishment of this new campus, located in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area, is a fulfillment of the Nigeria Police Academy (Establishment) Act, 2021. It signifies a strategic move to decentralize and broaden the reach of the academy, which has been based in Wudil, Kano State. The intervention fund, to be sourced from the TetFund 2026 allocation, will be crucial for developing essential infrastructure, academic facilities, student accommodation, and core training assets.

Furthermore, President Tinubu has reconstituted the 16-member governing council of the Nigeria Police Academy, appointing the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, as its chairman. The inclusion of representatives from various government ministries, the Police Service Commission, the IGP, and all six geopolitical zones ensures a diverse and comprehensive leadership structure.
