Tinubu approves new army battalion for Kwara to strengthen security

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sanctioned the creation of a new Nigerian Army battalion in Omu-Aran, located in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. This strategic move is part of a broader initiative to reinforce security measures across the state, which has been grappling with various forms of criminal activity.

The establishment of this new military formation is specifically designed to bolster security operations, particularly in regions of Kwara State that have been adversely affected by banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal enterprises. The presence of an additional battalion is expected to significantly enhance the capacity of security agencies to respond effectively to these threats.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for approving the battalion. He highlighted that this decision would provide much-needed additional personnel and military assets, thereby strengthening the state's security apparatus. The governor specifically noted that the battalion would reinforce counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping operations across the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various security agencies, including the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force. He affirmed the government's commitment to supporting coordinated security operations aimed at combating violent crimes and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents in Kwara State.
