Tinubu condemns mass abduction in Niger, orders immediate rescue operation

President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate and coordinated rescue operation for victims of a recent mass abduction in Niger State. The directive was announced by the president's Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday.

He assured the nation that the Federal Government is committed to the safe return of all abductees and vowed that those responsible would not escape justice. "Terror will not cow Nigeria. The abduction reportedly took place on Friday when terrorists invaded a mosque in Gidan-Zana, Kpenya village, within the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, during Jumat prayers. Worshippers, including children, women, and the elderly, were taken. Some residents fled into a nearby forest to escape the attack. The attackers also reportedly abducted the village Head of Ka’ada and the 90-year-old father of the District Head of Dekar.
