Tinubu congratulates Nigerian firm on $3.1bn AfCFTA customs deal

President Bola Tinubu has lauded Saleh Ahmadu, Chairman of Bergmans Security Consultants and Supplies Limited, for securing a significant 20-year concession agreement with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat. This landmark Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is valued at $3.1 billion and focuses on modernizing customs procedures across the continent.

The agreement, officially signed by AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene and Saleh Ahmadu, will see Bergmans' subsidiary, AfriTrade CMP Limited, implement the AfCFTA Customs Modernisation Project. The initiative aims to deploy unified digital customs platforms, electronic cargo-tracking systems, non-intrusive inspection technology, and integrated data infrastructure throughout participating African nations. The goal is to enhance efficiency and significantly facilitate intra-African trade.
