Tinubu deserves praise for infrastructure expansion, says spokesperson

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga has lauded President Bola Tinubu's administration for its infrastructure development across Nigeria, citing the Makurdi–Otukpo–Obolo-Affor–Enugu dual carriageway as a prime example. Onanuga made these remarks during an inspection tour of the road project in Benue State, led by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Presidential Media Team.

From what we have seen so far, even though we have not even completed this road, it has shortened the travel time between Makurdi and Otukpo.

Describing the expressway as a landmark achievement, Onanuga stated it would enhance connectivity, stimulate commerce, and foster national integration. He noted that the road has already drastically cut travel time between Makurdi and Otukpo, reducing it from approximately three hours to about one and a half hours. "This is a commendable project and I think President Bola Tinubu deserves a lot of applause for touching almost every part of Nigeria, giving them one road or bridge or one infrastructure or the other," Onanuga said.

The 258-kilometer dual carriageway, which spans Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, and Enugu states, is designed as a strategic transport corridor linking major economic centers. Federal Controller of Works for Benue State, Mukaila Danladi, explained that construction is progressing, with significant portions of the binder course laid despite weather-related challenges. The project is divided into five sections, with approximately 178 kilometers falling within Benue State.

Danladi assured that the project remains on track for completion within the 48-month contract period, with an expected delivery by December 2027. Contractors are currently focusing on hydraulic structures and drainage installations while awaiting improved weather conditions. This highway represents the second phase of the Abuja-Akwanga-Nasarawa-Makurdi corridor, extending the dualization project.
