Tinubu Inherited Economy in Shambles, But Story Has Changed, Says Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio asserted on Monday that President Bola Tinubu inherited a nation with a severely damaged economy but has since managed to reengineer it.

The current president has done a lot for Nigerians. He met an economy in shambles. When he came in, 27 states could not pay salaries and pensions, but today, the story has changed because of his reengineering and thinking out of the box.

Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during a courtesy visit from the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, Akpabio claimed the current administration has made significant progress despite the initial economic hardship. He highlighted that while 27 states struggled to pay salaries and pensions upon Tinubu's assumption of office, the situation has improved.

In 2027, Nigerians will separate the shafts from the grains and re-elect President Tinubu for a second term in office.

Akpabio expressed strong confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will have ample achievements to campaign on for the 2027 general election, predicting Tinubu's re-election. He described Tinubu as a president who thinks outside the box and brings innovative solutions to Nigeria's challenges, promising unprecedented achievements to be presented during the campaign.

We have a president who thinks outside the box, bringing about innovation. We will have something to tell Nigerians about the unprecedented achievements of Mr President at the campaign grounds.

The Senate President also challenged opposition politicians to compare their own past performance in public office with the current administration's record. He suggested that opposition figures are aware of the government's successes in areas like the economy, agriculture, security, education, and fiscal policy but are unwilling to acknowledge them due to political interests. Akpabio also defended the 10th National Assembly's contributions to national development under his leadership.

Someone who is challenging him cannot even tell us what he did when he was governor. I can tell you what I did when I was the governor of my state. We will tell them a lot.
