Tinubu launches ₦216bn Osun road projects, demands quality delivery

President Bola Tinubu has officially launched major road construction projects in Osun State, signaling a significant investment in the region's infrastructure.

The flag-off ceremony in Osogbo marked the commencement of work on the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road, an approximately 82-kilometer stretch, and the reconstruction of the 44-kilometer Gbongan-Osogbo Road. Represented by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, President Tinubu emphasized the administration's commitment to ensuring these projects deliver value and enhance connectivity.

"Let me assure you, this administration will enforce quality standards, transparency, and value for money. Every Naira must count. Every milestone must be met. And every community must feel the benefit," Tinubu stated in his directive to contractors and stakeholders. He urged for excellence and speed in delivery, fostering a collaborative approach with state and local partners.

The Gbongan-Osogbo Road project, awarded to Messrs Trucrete Solutions Limited for ₦101.8 billion, aims to upgrade existing carriageways and reconstruct deteriorated sections, linking several communities. The Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road, a crucial link between Osogbo and Ibadan passing through agricultural areas, was awarded to Messrs Peculiar Concerns Limited for ₦114.85 billion.

President Tinubu also highlighted ongoing federal projects and major infrastructure initiatives, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. He stressed the importance of engaging young people in these projects to provide them with practical skills and experience, framing the infrastructure development as a pathway to building trust and a stronger future for the region.
