Tinubu secures 915,840 votes in Kano, Borno APC primaries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured a significant mandate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary elections held in Kano and Borno states, garnering a combined total of 915,840 votes. The primaries, conducted ahead of the 2027 general elections, demonstrated strong party backing for the incumbent president.

In Kano State, Tinubu decisively defeated his only challenger, Mr Osifo Osayamen Stanley, by polling 500,852 votes. The exercise, which took place across all 44 local government areas, was officially announced at the Kano State Government House. The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, who participated in the vote at his ward, lauded the peaceful and transparent conduct of the primary. He noted that the presence of the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission and heads of security agencies underscored the legitimacy of the process.

The successful conduct of the exercise clearly demonstrates the popularity, acceptance and strong support enjoyed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across the 44 local government areas of Kano State.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State also declared Tinubu the winner of the APC presidential primary in his state, announcing that the president had secured 414,988 votes across Borno's 27 local government areas. Zulum, who served as the state's collation officer, announced the results on Saturday night. Both governors and party officials viewed the primary's outcome as a clear indication of Tinubu's popularity and a predictor of a landslide victory in the upcoming presidential election.
