Tinubu to unveil N2.4tn Abuja City Walk project Thursday

President Bola Tinubu is set to officially unveil the N2.4tn Abuja City Walk development on Thursday, marking the commencement of physical construction on a 250-hectare mixed-use urban district. Located along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport corridor in the Federal Capital Territory, the project is being promoted by MAG Group through a joint venture with Link Developments.

The ceremony, scheduled to last five hours, will also feature the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Link Developments and Saudi royal Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid bin Turki Al Saud. The Nigeria-Arab Gulf Chamber of Commerce is also expected to express its commitment, highlighting growing investment interest from Gulf-based institutions in Nigeria's real estate sector. The development is situated within a Free Trade Zone established by the Federal Government to offer tax incentives and a favorable regulatory environment for long-term foreign investment.

These alumni didn’t just visit the United States. They returned home with new skills, expanded networks, and a commitment to the kind of transparent governance, entrepreneurship, and innovation that drives real economic growth, benefiting both countries.

Designed by international architecture firm Benoy, the Abuja City Walk masterplan boasts ambitious features. It includes a 450-meter skyscraper intended to be Africa's tallest tower, housing commercial offices, hospitality facilities, and luxury residences. Additionally, the development will feature a 13,000-seat indoor arena, projected to become Nigeria's largest sports and entertainment venue, alongside an arts district with extensive exhibition and performance spaces. A unique ecological corridor, "The Living Ravine," is planned, utilizing a sustainable "Sponge District" concept for flood management, rainwater harvesting, and climate resilience, and has been shortlisted for the 2026 World Landscape Architecture Awards.

In Country Public Affairs Counsellor Lee McManis’s welcome remarks, he underscored how the values imbued in America’s 250th celebratory year are reflected in our thousands of Nigerian exchange alumni, always working to make the U.S.-Nigeria relationship stronger.

The project's advancement was significantly influenced by reforms from the Federal Capital Territory Administration, led by Minister Nyesom Wike. These reforms aimed to recover dormant land allocations. The land, originally designated for the Abuja Technology Village, had remained undeveloped for over two decades. The administration completed necessary regulatory approvals, issued the Certificate of Occupancy, and committed to constructing access roads. In return, the developers agreed to a phased construction schedule for the Abuja City Walk, which was formally agreed upon in June 2025.
